For the VW Van Type 5/6 with short wheelbase, we also offer a front elevating sleeper roof variant. The roof shell made of glass-fiber-reinforced polyester resin is four millimeters thick and is fitted with crushed-velour insulation.

The locking mechanism is released here using a practical and easy to use locking strap on the driver and passenger sides. The overall height of the vehicle is less than two meters, making it suitable for underground car parks.

The roof shell made using the hand lay-up process consists of glass-fiber-reinforced polyester resin. The roof bed has a one-piece bunk platform. The roof shell structure is four millimeters thick and is fitted with crushed-velour insulation. The locking mechanism is released here with a practical and easy to use locking strap on the driver and passenger sides. The overall height of the vehicle is less than two meters, making it suitable for underground car parks.

Sleeper roof SCA 190, super-flat, front elevating, for VW Transporter Type 5/6, SWB (from 2003 onwards)

SCA has designed two sleeper roofs for the VW T5 with short wheelbase: the front elevating roof SCA 190 and the rear elevating roof SCA 191.

Lots of new technical features significantly improve its convenience and operation:

• The GRP bed frame merges at the front into an integrated front spoiler.
• The tent fabric now has a sewn-in folding mechanism. This prevents trapping of the tent fabric when the roof is closed.
• Convenient central locking with strong external locking blocks
• Cover for the access opening can be pulled out of the bunk area

A completely new development and the use of the technically demanding vacuum expansion process for the production of the roof shell – an innovation in this product range – form the basis for the production of a sleeper roof with many advantages.

The high scissor lifts provide significantly more legroom and enable a sleeping position to be adopted with the head to the rear. The lift has been increased by 25 cm compared with the previous solution.

High-quality slats with an aluminium frame provide even more comfort when reclining and sleeping.

The curvature of the slats provides more headroom for rear-seat passengers when the bed is folded down and the roof closed.

The new Southco locks with integral safety bolts enable the roof to be locked easily and securely.

The roof shell is manufactured using the sophisticated vacuum expansion process. This guarantees accurate and consistent wall thicknesses and enables the external surface of the roof shell to be smooth and non-profiled – an ideal prerequisite for direct attachment of thin solar films just a few millimetres thick without significantly increasing the overall height of the vehicle.
